Family Support Adviser
At Bude Primary Academy, together we are committed to creating a happy and supportive school community. We believe that helping others is a vital part of developing kind, responsible, and resilient individuals who can navigate the challenges of modern life.
Our Family Support Adviser, Emma Thomas, has over 20 years of experience working with families in both social care and school settings. She supports children and parents throughout their school journey, focusing particularly on attendance and safeguarding, ensuring families receive the help they need during difficult times.
Across both schools, Emma is available to provide support and guidance in areas such as:
- Meeting with school staff, pupils, and parents to identify concerns and explore possible solutions.
- Advising parents and carers on their legal responsibilities regarding school attendance.
- Helping families access financial support, including free school meals, transport, and clothing grants.
- Referring families to external agencies, such as social services, educational psychologists, and health professionals.
- Providing one-to-one support for parents and pupils in school.
- Encouraging positive relationships between parents and the school.
- Arranging alternative education for pupils who have been excluded.
- Managing essential administrative tasks, such as writing case notes and corresponding with parents.
- Offering early intervention for children displaying signs of social, emotional, or behavioural difficulties, ensuring parents feel supported and empowered.
- Strengthening home-school partnerships, promoting respectful, positive relationships between all involved in a child's education.
